Opportunities for Involvement

Here are some opportunities for you to use your talents, skills, or abilities to serve God through Dawson ministries.

Prayer Ministries
Pray for others as an Intercessory Prayer Center volunteer, or as part of one of Dawson’s prayer groups

GED Tutor Training
Help adults study for the GED. Passing the test will allow the student to receive a certificate that is widely recognized by colleges, training schools, and employers as equivalent to a high school diploma. Materials and training will be provided. If you are willing to give two hours a week to help a young adult, contact Grace McGraw at The Center at Central Park.

Special Needs Sunday School for Adults in Need of Teachers, Assistants
Our Dawson Special Needs Adults Sunday School program is seeking individuals who are willing to contribute just one Sunday per month to help with the 9:40 service and/or the 11:00 Sunday School class.  An assistant is needed each Sunday to accompany the students during church, as they enjoy sitting together at the 9:40 service.  Sunday School is held at 11:00, and teachers are needed during this period of time, as well.  Please prayfully consider volunteering just one Sunday a month to help this wonderful group of individuals in one or both of these areas.  For more information, please contact Cynthia Tillman at 822-8654, or Beth Stewart at stewBEW@aol.com, or 213-7975.

Ministry to the Homeless in Birmingham

In addition, conversation and fellowship are shared with all. To learn how you can participate in this monthly ministry, contact Rob or Robin Duncan at duncans4redsox@yahoo.com.

M-Power Ministries needs volunteers to tutor elementary-age students on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00 p.m.-5:00
p.m. M-Power would like volunteers to commit to at least two days a week
to provide some stability for the children; but exceptions can be made. No experience is necessary. Training is provided.

A great tutor is compassionate about the needs of children in urban environments and committed to

Volunteer with Hearts and Hands
The Hearts and Hands Ministry provides buddies for children with special needs, helping them participate in age-appropriate learning activities. This ministry also reaches beyond the child, as it allows families to attend meaningful Bible studies and to worship on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. A Hearts and Hands Buddy is only asked to serve one hour, once a month! Would you be a Hearts and Hands Buddy? To learn more about this wonderful ministry opportunity, contact Ginny Glass at 871-7324 or ginny.glass@dawsonchurch.org
